ProLiant Flash Update  

 

 

 

 

 

This Flash Update Enhanced SoftPaq contains utilities and images that can be used to restore or upgrade the system ROM on Hewlett-Packard ProLiant Servers. Several methods for changing the ROM version on your server may be chosen. Included are the various ways to perform the update. Each folder provided has self-contained files to perform the ROM update and any unwanted folders may be deleted.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All files contained within and created by this Enhanced SoftPaq are specific to this ProLiant Server. Files are not interchangeable with other ProLiant Server families.

 

 

General Descriptions

Utilities and appropriate images are contained in each of the directories as follows:

ROMPaq Diskette – Creates a bootable 1.44 diskette, using a 32 and/or a 64 bit operating system that can be used to locally restore or update the system ROM.

ROMPaq USB Key – A Windows-based utility to locally partition, format and copy necessary files to a USB flash media device (e.g. HP Drive Key) through the Windows environment.

ROMPaq CD – Creates a bootable ROMPaq CD that can be used to locally restore or upgrade the system ROM. No backup will be made of the current system .

ROMPaq Diskette Flat Files – Provides flat files of the ROMPaq diskette that can be used for PXE flash.

Diskette Label – This program creates a ROMPaq 1.44 diskette label that can be printed and used to label your ROMPaq diskette.

Network ROM Flashing – This document provides information for the different methods that can be used to flash a ProLiant server via the network.
 

ROMPaq Diskette Flashing

This program creates a ROMPaq 1.44 diskette that can be used to locally restore or upgrade the system ROM. For more information on the ROMPaq diskette, view the ReadMe.txt in the ROMPaq Diskette folder. If you wish to build a ROMPaq Diskette, click the Launch ROMPaq Diskette Creation Utility link below. If prompted with a File Download dialog box, please select "Open" or "Run from current location". If you receive an error, click the View Contents of ROMPaq Diskette Folder and execute the executable file manually to build the ROMPaq Diskette.

HP USB Key ROMPAQ Setup Creation Utility

HP USB Key ROMPAQ Setup is a utility which is designed to flash the system ROM when run from a USB flash media device, including HP Drive Key. To run the HP USB Key ROMPAQ Setup Utility, click the Launch HP USB Key ROMPAQ Setup Creation Utility link below. Follow the instruction to create a bootable USB device. ROMPaq CD Creation

This program creates a ROMPaq CD that can be used to locally restore or upgrade the system ROM. This feature requires that a system is available with CD burning software and a compatible CD-R\RW drive installed. For more information on the ROMPaq CD, view the ReadMe.txt in the ROMPaq CD folder. ROMPaq Flat Files

The following option provides flat files of the ROMPaq diskette that can be used for PXE flash. Diskette Label

Network ROM flashing capabilities

To assist the system administrator with flashing the system ROM multiple methods have been put in place to accomplish this task. This document describes two methods that can be applied to restore and/or update the system ROM via network on a ProLiant server. Web Browser Notes

A user using a web browser that is configured to prevent an executable file from running should click on the “View Contents…” link of every option and then double click on the executable file to launch the program.
